List five things you do for fun.

There are so many fun things to list, it’s hard to choose only five of them. Anyways, one of my favorite fun things to do is visit the zoo. One of the best ones in the state is the World 🌍 Wildlife Zoo in Litchfield Park, Arizona about 35 minutes west of Phoenix. This is a great place to see all kinds of animals from every continent. The aviary is the area of the zoo I enjoy the most because of the Lorikeet birds, which are a small, brightly colored tropical species. When inside, visitors can feed them diced apples — which they love and go wild for! These birds are quite tame and they will hop onto your arms to get treats! Just an FYI, The World Wildlife Zoo is best toured between November and the first half of April before it gets too hot, because walking is necessary to reach the different buildings and some animals are viewed outdoors as well.

The green parrots 🦜 were quiet for the moment – but they go wild and will swarm you after entering the cage with treats. They especially love 💕 diced apples 🍎!

Another fun activity that I don’t get enough of is the water parks. They are plentiful in the Phoenix area which has about ten of them. My favorite one (which I haven’t been to enough in the past few years is called Golfland Sunsplash in Mesa, about forty minutes east of downtown Phoenix. This is an awesome recreational space to enjoy both the water rides, tubing down the “Lazy River” and to play miniature golf ⛳️! Sunsplash also hosts birthday 🥳 parties and other group events that are a good time for adults and children alike. There’s no better activity to engage in during the scorching hot Arizona summers – believe me! I know firsthand!

My third fun 🤩 activity is bike riding around town and exploring neighborhoods that I haven’t been to before. The Phoenix area (especially around Scottsdale) has numerous paths for riding to enjoy the sights and get exercise at the same time. Once again, this type of outdoor activity is best enjoyed during the later autumn 🍂 months into early spring (during November until mid-April). My fourth fun activity is hiking 🥾 the peaks around town and also during the same time of year. Of course, it’s great exercise too, and beneficial for diabetics like myself. Aside from bike riding (or going to the gym, which I don’t!) hiking is probably the best method of burning calories and maintaining an acceptable weight. So, there’s always an additional benefit to be gleaned.

I’ve put hundreds of miles on this 1950s style beach 🏖️ cruiser bike 🚲 exploring the vast Phoenix area.

My fourth enjoyable activity is playing my cds 💿 or vintage vinyl record collection while engaged in housework like dusting, folding clothes, mopping floors, washing dishes – or some other tedious chore. It’s easier to get through these things when there’s something else to entertain me and cheer me up like my favorite 🤩 music. 🎶 Last, but not least is taking road trips with my partner, getting out of the city 🌆 for a day or two and visiting a museum, nature trail, state park, winery, or some other interesting place we’ve never been to before.
