Armchair Travelogues 🧭: Arizona 🖼️ Artscapes: Phoenix Street Art – Part 3!

Armchair Travelogues
Elephants 🐘 have always fascinated me, and I enjoy watching any wild life programs about them. Both of these face the entrance of the Thai Long-An restaurant in Melrose. Elephants 🐘 are often symbols of good 😌 luck in Southern/Southeast Asian countries such as India 🇮🇳 & Thailand 🇹🇭 and are deeply rooted in both Hindu & Buddhist mythology. In those cultures they represent abundance, longevity, & majesty, among other positive values. (Photo Source: Author’s ✍️ Collection)

So far 2026 continues to be great for strolling around Phoenix and exploring the street art! Lately, it’s one of the few cities in the country without major foul weather issues. With this in mind I’m appreciating being outdoors to enjoy this pastime as much as possible. This week I’m going to share more murals from the Melrose District. The one featured below is a good example of Native Americans that I particularly like.

Although there appears to be a signature, I’m not sure who the artist is. The turquoise color really sets off the red, yellow, & purple hues from the darker gray background of the building. I also like how the turquoise incorporates the lion statue in the foreground almost into the mural. (Photo Source: Author’s ✍️ Collection)

Fully capturing this mural was difficult because of the cars parked out front, so I couldn’t avoid the roof of this one. In any case, this artwork is among the more bizarre I’ve seen around Phoenix in the past two years. I’m not sure 🤔 but this looks like a crocodile 🐊 emerging from some watery depth into the forest at night. It looks like it’s about to gobble up that moth! (Photo Source: Author’s ✍️ Collection)

Getting this shot was also a challenge. I tried to get as much of these lush, gorgeous flowers 🌺 as possible. In the future I’ll need a wide-screen, panoramic lens for something like this! While the angle may be strange, it shouldn’t detract too much from the cheerfulness they project. Black-Eyed Susans like those pictured here represent the best of the various autumn 🍂 shades of yellow, orange, & red. 😃😃 (Photo Source: Author’s ✍️ Collection)

Later on this month and during March I expect to post more creations from Melrose, Roosevelt Row and other art spaces in the Phoenix area!
