Airports are not what typically comes to mind as spaces for intriguing displays of art. Yet, fascinating sculpture exhibits are exactly what travelers can see when arriving at Sky Harbor Airport to visit the Grand Canyon State or passing through to other destinations.
Some of the most intriguing sculptures can be found throughout Terminal 3 featuring artist Jeremy Thomas. He excels at what are termed “inflated steel sculptures.” These bright yellow abstract works pictured below are certainly eye-catching, cheerful and memorable.
These sculptures could be interpreted in any number of ways, resembling birds, sea creatures or something from the far reaches of the galaxy? You decide.
Below is a description of the steps involved for Thomas to create these sculptures.
Pictured below are four more views of the inflated steel sculptures.

While Jeremy Thomas is the featured artist for this post, there are other exhibits to see throughout Sky Harbor. At any given time there may be up to 700 different artworks on display, especially in Terminals 3 & 4.
